Tools required:
- Phillips screwdriver Gr.2
- A sharp cutter knife
- A narrow stripping blade, a very narrow chisel or a sharp-edged, large slotted screwdriver
- Coarse abrasive paper (80 grit or grindstone 120 grit)
- A stable support (for example, a tapestry table with a protruding plate or a wooden plate about 16 mm thickwith an edge length of approx. 80 to 160 cm and a depth of at least 20-30 cm)
- Approx. 3mm thick craft felt or a soft and smooth (!) Fabric underlay (e.g., Molton)
- Minimum two (perfect would be 16) small to medium size screw clamps
- Optionally a tube of contact adhesive (e.g., Pattex) in the event that the leather should have loosened on the underside of the panel.
Quick start Guide:
The reinforcements are fitted. It is often necessary to shorten the leathers of the leather on the underside of the cover so that the reinforcements can be glued.
If the leather has already completely dissolved on the underside, it must first be glued again (remove the old glue, sand the plastic, glue the leather with the adhesive).
Now the adhesive surfaces of the reinforcements and also of the cover are roughened with coarse abrasive paper, thoroughly cleaned / degreased and the adhesive areas of the diaphragm treated with adhesion promoter.
In the next step the strips (field by field or several simultaneously) are glued together.
